Notes

Afilias

The PCAP files were synthesized from an internal capture format.

e-root

E-root data appears to have many duplicate pcaps within their nodes - this is not the case. Where there is the appearance of duplicates these files are actually unique and represent the true number of nodes within that directory. For example, lhr/ contains 4 such distinct nodes. A script was used to re-sort these uploads into the proper node names for further processing.

f.root

Note that some files from the Cloudfare instances have been anonymised from the original captures.

i-root

The I-root data from Netnod has anonymized source IP addresses due to privacy regulations within the country of that data's origin. UNINETT's data has also been anonymized in the same way.

ICANN/l.root

Some nodes could not keep up with the collection thus some will look incomplete or are missing files. Otherwise the data is complete. The PCAP files were also synthesized from another format.
